iStaff Substitute Teachers (“iStaff,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a private, invitation-only platform that connects schools in Michigan with vetted substitute teachers. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our platform, you agree to the practices described here.

This platform is not open to the public. Access is limited to approved schools and approved, vetted substitute teachers.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary to operate the platform and connect schools with substitute teachers. This includes:

Names of substitute teachers and school contacts.
Email addresses used for account access and platform communications.
Phone numbers used for account contact and (in the future) text message notifications.
School addresses and related contact details for posting and filling openings.
Contact form submissions from our homepage, including any name, email address, and message you provide.

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand general website usage. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track individuals across sites or build advertising profiles. We do not use advertising trackers or sell your information.

3. How We Collect Information

Because there is no public sign-up, we collect your information when:

An account is created for you by us or an authorized administrator as part of the approval and vetting process.
You provide or update information within your account.
Schools post job openings, and substitute teachers claim them.
You submit the contact form on our homepage.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and manage approved user accounts.
Allow schools to post substitute teacher openings.
Allow approved substitute teachers to view and claim openings.
Send account-related and platform communications by email.
Send text message (SMS) notifications related to job openings and account activity.
Maintain the security and integrity of the platform.
Receive and respond to messages you send us through our contact form.

5. Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform. These providers process data on our behalf and only for the purposes described in this policy:

Supabase — user authentication and secure data storage.
Resend — sending platform and account emails.
Telnyx — sending SMS notifications.
Webflow — hosting our website front end, and storing and sending our homepage contact form submissions.
Plausible Analytics — privacy-focused website analytics (no cookies, no personal data).
Squarespace — domain registration.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

6. SMS / Text Messaging

We offer text message (SMS) notifications related to job openings and account activity. The messages we send may include alerts about new or available openings, confirmations when an opening is claimed, and account-related updates.

Consent. You will only receive text messages if you have provided your mobile number and consented to receive SMS notifications. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of using the Platform.

Opt-out. You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. After you reply STOP, we will send a confirmation message and will not send further texts unless you opt back in.

Help. For help, reply HELP to any message, or contact us at contact@istaffsubs.org.

Message frequency and rates. Message frequency varies based on platform activity. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier’s plan. We are not responsible for any charges from your carrier.

We do not share your mobile information with third parties for marketing purposes. Mobile information is used only to deliver the platform-related messages described above through our messaging provider.

7. How We Protect Your Information

We rely on Supabase’s authentication and storage infrastructure to safeguard your data, and we restrict platform access to approved users only. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the platform and meet our legal obligations. If your account is removed, we will delete or anonymize your personal information unless we are required to retain it by law.

9. Your Rights

You may request to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate or outdated information.
Request deletion of your information, subject to any legal retention requirements.
